{ Hello! }

My name is Gavin. I am 11 months old. I was born with a genetic disorder called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency that caused my liver to go into failure. I was misdiagnosed for 3 months and underwent emergency surgery before they found out what was wrong. I am on the Organ Donation List and am waiting for my "gift of life" so I can have a liver transplant. You can read about my story by clicking {here}. Thank you for visiting my online journal!

*It is our deepest sorrow to inform you that Gavin passed away while waiting to receive a liver transplant. He was only 14 days away from his 1st birthday. Please, if you haven't already, sign up to be a registered organ donor today and talk to your loved ones about your wishes: http://www.donatelife.net/. Thank you all so much for your love and support during this last year.

6 months old!

6 months old!

(someday he'll get mad at me for posting this picture online! hehe)

Stats
weight: 11lbs
height: 23"

Eating Habits:
Gavin is still eating about 4-5 ounces at a time, every 2-3 hours. He also got the go ahead from our doctor to start "tasting" real food this month! So far on the list is apple slices, carrot sticks, chunks of frozen fruit, graham crackers and pretzels. He doesn't really eat them, just gums them up a bit while Mommy holds onto them tight! This kid is a *chewer* and always wants something to gnaw on! We're going to start giving him some tastes of baby food, too!

Sleeping Habits:
Gavin is sleeping a LOT more at night now, thank the heavens above!!! He usually goes to sleep around 10pm, wakes up around midnight, then around 4am, then is up for the morning around 7-8am. And sometimes he will sleep through the midnight feeding. Which is just marvelous!!! I guess that doesn't sound like a whole lot, but its a huge improvement from before where he was up every two hours!!!

Playing Habits:
Gavin discovered the exersaucer this month! He'll sit and play in it for about 15 minutes or so, and is captivated by all the new fun toys! He'll also lay on a blanket on the floor and play with a few toys, keep himself entertained for awhile. Its so cute. He's starting to babble and coo a lot more, and has added some shrieks in for good measure! He also likes to lay outside on a blanket and watch the grass. It was pretty funny the first day he "discovered" it! Oh, and he's *this* close to sitting up on his own...he can hold it for a few seconds before crashing.

Any firsts this month?
His first nummie-nummies!

And just because it makes me laugh:
