{ Hello! }

My name is Gavin. I am 11 months old. I was born with a genetic disorder called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency that caused my liver to go into failure. I was misdiagnosed for 3 months and underwent emergency surgery before they found out what was wrong. I am on the Organ Donation List and am waiting for my "gift of life" so I can have a liver transplant. You can read about my story by clicking {here}. Thank you for visiting my online journal!

*It is our deepest sorrow to inform you that Gavin passed away while waiting to receive a liver transplant. He was only 14 days away from his 1st birthday. Please, if you haven't already, sign up to be a registered organ donor today and talk to your loved ones about your wishes: http://www.donatelife.net/. Thank you all so much for your love and support during this last year.

3 months old!

(I am writing this 3 months after the fact, because at that time we were in the hospital with Gavin)

3 months old!

Stats
weight: about 8.5lbs
height: 22"

Eating Habits:

We had a lot of problems concerning Gavin's eating this month. He wasn't gaining enough weight, so we finally switched to all formula because his pediatrician kept saying I must not be making "fatty enough breastmilk". Gavin's weight did jump up within a couple of weeks though! He gained a lb and a half that month, where he had only been gaining 1 lb a month before. But we still pressed to his bilirubin levels tested, and of course that started our long journey at the hospital. I guess we'll never know how much of that was his liver getting worse, or if he wasn't breastfeeding correctly. Maybe a bit of both?!

Sleeping Habits:

Gavin was still waking every 1-2 hours at this time. I was just exhausted by that point, but once we switched to formula at least I had help feeding him. I was still pumping though, so I couldn't just sleep through the night though. It was a very, very tiring time!

Playing Habits:

During this month he started smiling at us a lot! It was so wonderful!!! So we could start doing fun things with him and he would just smile at us like "you guys are crazy, but I like ya!" :)

Any firsts this month?

Gavin got to meet his aunts for the first time! They were so excited to see him!!! It was also his first time on a plane! He did amazingly well...I flew with him by myself, so I was scared how it would turn out. But he slept all the way there and back. PHEW! It was also his first time seeing snow, but he didn't really go out in it much. ;)

...and of course it was his first Christmas!!!

And just because it makes me laugh:
