{ Hello! }

My name is Gavin. I am 11 months old. I was born with a genetic disorder called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency that caused my liver to go into failure. I was misdiagnosed for 3 months and underwent emergency surgery before they found out what was wrong. I am on the Organ Donation List and am waiting for my "gift of life" so I can have a liver transplant. You can read about my story by clicking {here}. Thank you for visiting my online journal!

*It is our deepest sorrow to inform you that Gavin passed away while waiting to receive a liver transplant. He was only 14 days away from his 1st birthday. Please, if you haven't already, sign up to be a registered organ donor today and talk to your loved ones about your wishes: http://www.donatelife.net/. Thank you all so much for your love and support during this last year.

Drain successful

The drain is in, it was successful and went in quickly. They already drained 1/2 a liter of fluid from his abdomen. (think of a 2 liter bottle soda...1/4 of that!) I'm sure this will help him breathe a lot easier.

We are so extremely grateful that this is in and it is working. We continue to pray that will strengthen his body and continue to work properly and avoid any new infection or bleeding. We pray that this will give Gavin the chance to relax and heal and get off the oscillator this weekend.

Now we wait for the results of the fluid culture...

I have been checking non-stop for an update....thanks so much for being so great at keeping us informed!:) I am SO glad to hear that things have not gotten worse and seem to look promising. 1/2 a liter!!!! WOW! Draining that alone HAS to help the other stuff out. Prayers are obviously coming your way with all of the tender mercies that are there.

Right now as I type this "Hold on" by Avril Lavigne is playing....come one Gavin...hold on little buddy!

Yeah! I just spoke with Seth Merrill and sent an e-mail to Litchfield and Felton. I am sure they will join in our prayers for your family. We are all family and are grateful for his wonderful news today. I spoke with my friend and her little girl had similar swelling. You will enjoy talking with her. Especially, Beth..mom to mom. Becky Dominguez is a great lady. Her daughter is a miracle. She was also at UCLA. Hope you can sleep. Love to you.

Bethany, I'm so glad to hear Gavin is keeping up his fighting spirit, and that the drain went in and is helping. He will of course remain in our thoughts and prayers. I pray for you guys that you will find the strength and inner peace to be strong for him and to make it through this tough weekend. And most of all I pray for Gavin that his body will continue to fight, heal, and conquer! God bless.
